This is a USA Made 4-Way Air Control Valve found on many Coats®* Tire Changers and is the spring centered style valve. 

This is the valve that is operated by the foot pedals in the front and side of the machine on many model Coats ®* tire changers. This valve can be used in any foot pedal function EXCEPT for bead breaking pedal. (table top wheel clamping jaw controls and turntable rotation)

NOTE: Coats®* MACHINES CAME WITH TWO DIFFERENT STYLE FOOT PEDAL AIR CONTROL VALVES. SOME HAD INTERNAL CENTERING SPRINGS AND SOME DID NOT. THIS LISTING IS FOR THE VALVE WITH CENTERING SPRING. PLEASE READ BELOW TO ASSIST IN DETERMINING IF YOU HAVE A SPRUNG OR NON SPRUNG VALVE BEFORE ORDERING.

STEP 1 -REMOVE THE BAD VALVE FROM THE MACHINE

STEP 2 -USING YOUR HAND, ATTEMPT TO PULL THE PLUNGER IN AND OUT OF THE BODY OF THE VALVE.

-IF YOU FEEL RESISTANCE FROM THE PLUNGER AND IT RETURNS BACK TO A CENTERED POSITION WHEN YOU LET GO THEN YOU NEED THIS VALVE!
-IF IT MOVES FREELY WITHOUT RESISTANCE THEN YOU HAVE A NON SPRING VALVE AND THE VALVE IN THIS LISTING WILL NOT WORK BUT WE DO OFFER THE NON SPRUNG VALVE IN OUR STORE BY SEARCHING 1986

-ANOTHER EASY WAY TO TELL IF IT IS SPRUNG OR NON SPRUNG VALVE IS BY LOOKING AT THE 4 BOLT BACKING PLATE ON YOUR VALVE AND DETERMINING IF THAT PLATE IS THICK OR THIN. LOOK AT THE FIRST PICTURE IN THE GALLERY PHOTOS TO SEE THE THICKNESS OF THE 4 BOLT ALUMINUM BACKING PLATE AS A REFERENCE FOR MORE INFO.
